Thanks to all those who provided me with details of Leads for neurodisability and Looked After Children in your Trusts. This provides BACCH with named people in each Trust who can act as central liaison points and disseminate relevant information for these two areas of special interest. BACD will be asking neurodisability leads for information about their Child Development Centre provision in coming months.
The BACCH Trainee rep, Neal McCathie requested contact details for Higher Specialist trainees in Community Paediatrics in order to inform and improve networking. This may also help identify those who are soon to complete CCT and be available to fill the numerous consultant vacancies in Community Child Health across the South Thames area. The vitality and enthusiasm of newly qualified consultants joining a supportive team is extremely beneficial for all those involved. BACCH members should also take advantage of the 2 for 1 offer for the forthcoming ASM in September. All members attending both days of the conference can bring a trainee free of charge - they only need to pay for the conference dinner and accommodation, if required.
Regrading to Associate Specialist for Staff Grade doctors is proceeding in various ways across the country. BACCH will be publishing their recommended criteria for this on their new website, in the near future, and this should help achieve equity for SAS doctors across NHS Trusts.
For those who are interested, the annual BP Portrait Awards this year, exhibited in the National Portrait gallery, London, will include one of a consultant community paediatrician…
As always, I’m happy to receive comments and suggestions about what to include in a future Regional BACCH annual conference.
