Editor's report on this issueAfter
11 issues, I am handing over as Editor to Mary Jones. I have
certainly enjoyed editing this newsletter, hope you have
enjoyed reading it. Editors need feedback to keep improving
the product; please feel free to let Mary know how BACCH
News can be better.
This issue contains a number of contributions on child protection,
in particular Nellie Adjaye (page 18) gives an insight into
how it felt being part of Lord Laming’s team. SO, remember,
if you get a call from the DoH, be suspicious! Fawzia Rahman’s
article in the Information Column (page 14) is also important.
I particularly liked her concept of a “clinical access
target pyramid”. Blanket waiting lists are always a
problem; we need to develop an approach to describing and
prioritising our varied workload, which makes sense to others,
especially to those who commission services.
The BACCH Executive has undergone a number of
changes. Gabrielle Laing on page 8, answers a question often
asked about BACCH roles: "will I have the time?".
I like her views about how she enjoyed it, and that BACCH
benefits from new people. So, if you would like some fun,
and maybe help to shape the future of BACCH (and make things
a bit better for children), put yourself forward. We always
need new people, and welcome your involvement.
Thanks to all those who have contributed to the newsletter whilst
I have edited it, and very a special thanks to the team at
Bosworth, who convert a load of Word documents and e-mails
into this glossy publication! |
