Editor's report on this issueAs
you will see from Tom Hutchinson's column (pg3), BACCH
is looking for nominations for important posts to ensure
its smooth running. I would urge you to consider putting
yourself forward—with the unrolling of the NSF, community
paediatrics will need enthusiastic people to help take forward
its development and contribution to better services for children
and families. Please think about it: we need new people to
continue our work. We have just had the announcement of a
Minister for Children in England. This must be a welcome
move, and catches up with similar posts elsewhere in the
UK. Should we devote part of a future issue to looking at
differences in organisation of health services for children
across the UK?
We continue with our approach of regular contributions on
key areas. Jane Wynne (pg18) reports on the child protection
session at the RCPCH Annual Meeting in York and asks some
difficult questions. Tony Waterston (pg9) talks of the
successful Public Health conference, whilst Fawzia (pg11)
continues her information column. My colleague Ruth Bastable,
a local GP, writes on the NSF (pg12). We work closely on
many issues, particularly child protection, and I always
find her thought provoking!
Finally, please put the ASM in your diary. Gabrielle Laing describes
the programme (pg6). It looks good, and I hope as many
of you as possible will make the effort to be there. |
