Editor's report on this issueThose
who have read BACCH News Autumn 2003 will know that I have
just taken over from David Vickers, who has moved on to become
BACCH Convener. Congratulations to David on his new post,
and thank you to all who contributed to his excellent last
edition. I hope you will all give me patience, advice, support
and plenty of articles! I have upgraded my hotmail e-mail
address to allow for more ‘stuff’ to come my
way. A new and improved version of the BACCH website should
be up and running soon: thanks to Cliona Ni Bhrolchain
for all her research into the changes we feel are necessary
to make the site even more useful.
Since the last issue of BACCH News, the new Consultant Contract
has been passed. With the agreement to accept comes the
necessity for job planning. Fawzia Rahman gets to grips
with how we, in the community, “fit” (or not),
page 12. We all have an ever-increasing number of referrals,
meetings and commitments that will contribute to child
health in general, hopefully, but threaten to overwhelm
us. Andrew Williams’ ‘starfish’ article
on page 11 provides useful reflection on our reasons for
keeping going.
The dates of BACCH News’ publication have been variable
in the past. Many of the submissions for the BACCH Council
meetings are also relevant to this newsletter. In future,
we will link the publication date to the Council and EC
meetings - see side panel on page 2. I know this doesn’t
work as Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter a prize
mention to those with the best suggestions for four titles. |
