News - Autumn / Winter 2004
|
From the EditorIt is exactly a year since I “accepted” this post. At last year’s Annual Scientific Meeting, I found myself unequal to David Vicker’s gentle but firm powers of persuasion. Since then, we have had 3 editions of BACCH News. Material has come in from many of you as well as our regular columns from David and Nick. I aim to time the editions to fit in with BACCH Committee meetings, but this has not always been feasible, so I apologise for the delay that occurs at times. This edition follows the 2004 ASM with the topic of ‘Children’s Emotional Health – Our Primary Challenge’. It includes a synopsis of some presentations (p16) – more will be available on the website. What is BACCH News? We are not a journal so any papers published are not peer reviewed. However, we are here to inform and maybe entertain you. I hope we extend examples of good practise – the posters for the CATCH prize are a good example of this (see page for the winning entry featuring the‘Information and Advice Service for Parents and Professionals in Caerphilly’ p13). I’d like to think that we could get into BACCH News some of the ideas you pick up at BACCH meetings, for example, how different areas are coping with problems, and generally what’s going on in the world of Community Child Health. I rely on your help; please do e-mail me with anything you feel deserves featuring. As I write, The National Service Framework for Children is likely to be the focus of the next edition, and we WILL keep to the editorial deadlines! Mary Jones |
