Considering Community: Applying to CCH Subspecialty

Deciding whether to choose Community as your subspecialty can be tough. 

Reading through our Trainee Recruitment resources, you can find out about daily life as a Community Paediatrician, how to experience Community in your early career, and tips for the application process. However, we know that hearing from the Trainees who are going through it is often the most valuable insight. 

At this session, ST5-7 CCH Trainees will share their experiences and reflections, and tips when considering if it is the right direction for you. 

What's more, BACCH also runs a Buddy Scheme to support all Trainees on their journey from applying to CCH through to settling into training. The scheme pairs you as a resident applying to our subspeciality with existing ST5-7 CCH Trainees, who will be able to offer informal peer support. 

For new starters, it's a friendly face in your region with insider knowledge of how things work that you can ask all those 'silly’ questions to! This can be so valuable when starting out when you often don't know anyone! For existing CCH Trainees, it's a chance to get feedback on how you've supported juniors.

While the session starts at 1.30pm, you are also welcome to join our BACCH Trainees' monthly Lightning Learning session, to get a real taste of what BACCH Trainees learn and how they support each other.

This month's theme is Translating Childhood Experiences into Statements of Risk for Children in Care.
