Top Tips
- Look at the shortlisting criteria early on so you can plan your learning activities to maximise your score.
- Look through your eportfolio before applying – you will already have a wealth of experience that can be drawn upon for the written application and interview
- Utilise and maximise transferrable skills – the panel are aware that many applicants may not have had any/much time in CCH. Think about what you have done in both clinical and non-clinical experiences, and how they can relate to the skills required of a CCH paediatrician.
- Have a look at the CCH curriculum/syllabus.
- Practice interviews with senior colleagues.
- Once offered a place, you only have 48 hours to respond!
The RCPCH website contains a wealth of information including:
- Recent recruitment statistics
- Application guides, webinars, and FAQs
- Information for trainees other than UK paediatric trainees

Where to Apply?
As with all of training, placements will have different structures and potentially different areas of focus within community child health. However, to be deemed appropriate for a subspecialty post, all placements will cover the core areas of the CCH curriculum. Posts will therefore include gaining experience in neurodisability, safeguarding, adoption/fostering, public health and more!
During the application process, you will receive a list of the jobs available. Each job listed will include a breakdown of the placements and details of what these involve. These can be found when the jobs are advertised on the RCPCH website.
If you would like specific information on particular regions, please see the *Useful contacts* page where you can find contact information for CSACs and regional representatives.
