An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Paediatrician to join the Neurodevelopmental Team at The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated and forward-thinking team, committed to delivering high-quality clinical care to children and young people across Chester.
As a Consultant colleague, you will be part of a wider paediatric workforce that includes 13 Consultant General Paediatricians and a range of other medical professionals within our fully integrated directorate.
The post is offered as a full-time position (10 programmed activities). However, applications from candidates wishing to job share or work less than full time are warmly welcomed.
There is scope within the service to tailor specific roles and responsibilities to the successful applicant, taking into account both individual and evolving service needs.
Main duties of the job
The directorate provides comprehensive health services for children in Chester and the surrounding areas, working loosely with Local Authority partners to develop and deliver children’s services in line with national policy.
The post holder will work collaboratively with a broad range of professionals, including paramedical services (Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Pharmacists), Specialist Nurses, Health Visitors, and School Nursing teams. Community work also involves close liaison with Local Authority teams – including the Local Education Authority and Social Care – and with voluntary sector organisations. Strong and effective working relationships are already well established with our secretarial and administrative staff. We also maintain excellent collaborative relationships with colleagues in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and participate in established clinical networks with Consultants at the regional tertiary centre, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

We are currently looking to appoint a suitably qualified Consultant in Community Paediatrics.
The successful applicant will be based in Raigmore Hospital doing clinics in Inverness, in addition to a remit of peripheral clinics on the Isle of Skye.
We are a small and committed community paediatric team based in the beautiful Highlands region of Scotland. As a team we consist of 6 community paediatric consultants (4.4 WTE), 6 Associate specialists and ADHD specialist nursing team. We have close working relationships with CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) and allied health professional colleagues.
CAMHS, acute paediatrics and community paediatric outpatients and offices are all co-located at The Birnie Centre/Morven House within Raigmore Hospital campus. The community paediatric team have established multidisciplinary working relationships with multiple teams including specialist nursing teams, community children’s nursing team and visiting specialist consultants from main health boards in Scotland and this is central to the delivery of our paediatric services. We also have an excellent in-house administrative team.

This post is a Community Consultant Paediatrician position with interest in neuro-disability in the Waltham Forest Specialist Children Service, based at Wood Street Health Centre, 6 Linford Road, Walthamstow, London, E17 3LA. It is a new post, created as part of Delivering Value agenda. The successful applicant will join our dynamic Community Paediatric team who work within a fully integrated targeted specialist children’s service. The postholder will join a team of 6 other consultants (6.4 WTE), 3 non-consultant colleagues and Paediatric and GP trainees providing integrated care for children seen in neuro-disability and neurodevelopment clinical pathways and within Safeguarding and Children in Care pathways.
Waltham Forest Community Paediatric team is part of a very large community paediatric service delivered across NELFT – covering outer North East London and Essex, composing more than 40 Community Paediatricians. We work collaboratively with our colleagues across the region on service development e.g. on integrated neurodevelopmental paediatric and CAMHS pathways, motor disorders and children in care clinical pathways. We highly value our academic colleagues who hold joint posts with UCL and Cambridge Autism Unit who support innovative practice and research in paediatrics and neurodevelopment. There are close links with the acute paediatric department at Whipps Cross University Hospital (Barts Health Trust) and Royal London Hospital and with Tertiary Service at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The post holder will be a suitably qualified Consultant Paediatrician with at least 2 years’ experience in community Child health. The post holder will be a GMC registered clinician responsible for patients allocated to them and will assess, manage, plan, and deliver care.
The successful candidate will provide senior medical support to the team, and direct input on clinical cases. The consultant will be expected to provide guidance and supervision to the team, work directly with babies, children, and young people (and their families), and liaise as appropriate with other external health providers, and acute hospitals. They will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively supporting and liaising with other health and social care professionals and agencies.
